![]() The in has collections aimed at specific genres and it makes it super easy to get inspired. Between having all the synths like massive and FM8, you also get Battery 4 which is a realllllly nice drum machine/sampler. The Kontakt NI ultimate collection is also really good. Im going to add native instruments to this list: The presets on these are pretty much identical to the originals, which a lot of hip hop artists used and still use. all used pretty much daily in my stuff somewhere. This is my FAVORITE synth collection, and I make mostly dubstep which might surprise a lot of people. The interface is awesome once you get the hang of it, but for basic stuff, its too complicated compared to the others.Īrturia: I would get the whole bundle tbh. Phaseplant: Sound design heaven! I wouldn't bother with this one unless you really want to deep dive in on sound design and make some wild stuff. Making your own wavetables is where this synth shines! If you are wanting to learn how to create your own sounds, this one is good to start on and honestly you shouldn't need too much more. Serum: Probably the easiest synth to learn sound design on. Or drag your own samples in and use omnisphere to craft them You can literally take any of the original samples and manipulate them however you like. ![]() It has its own wavetable synth, tons of FX, and a lot of people dont know you can literally just browse the "source sound" material and skip over the crazy presets. Definitely watch a deep dive on it, as it does WAY more than what people use it for haha. Omnisphere: Good for out of the box sounds that are really good and cover pretty much any style. Imo the inability to tweak the sounds is annoying but if you just want a bunch of dope presets it’s good. Sometimes they can be over the top and while they might sound great on their own it can really clutter your mix.Īnalog lab is great for presets too. A little advice also: always check the effects applied on the presets when you use them and make a decision on whether or not they are needed. Like serum, there are a lot of great expansion packs. Only thing I would say is that it can be challenging picking sounds because there are so many to browse through. If you can only get one you can’t really go wrong with it. Omnisphere has a lot of presets that are great and ready to go. Also since it’s super popular there are so many people creating dope expansion packs for it so while I’m not a big fan of it’s stock presets you can quickly get an amazing library. YouTube is great for learning how to do the different sounds. It’s incredible having a sound in mind and being able to create it. Do no underestimate the power of being able to make basic sounds yourself like pads, Reece bass, 808s and many more. Serum is great for learning to make your own sounds. All of those are great but one might get more out of Omnisphere while others may get more out of Serum. Really depends on what you want and how you work.
